Munin FPSO
Munin FPSO producing on in full Dynamic Positioning (DP)mode
The FPSO Munin returned to the Lufeng Field early in the 2nd quarter of 2005 for a minimum fixed period of three years after a temporary relocation period on the Xijiang field.
The Munin produced on the Xijiang field for a period of six months as a temporary replacement for the Nanhai Kai Tuo FPSO. The FPSO Munin utilised its full Dynamic Positioning (DP) capability for mooring and used the Xijiang field’s existing fluid transfer equipment.

During the temporary relocation of the FPSO Munin, sidetrack drilling on three existing wells took place on the Lufeng field. This new drilling technology facilitates production of new pockets of oil, which should serve to extend Lufeng field’s life.

The FPSO Munin returned to the Lufeng Field early in the 2nd quarter of 2005 for a minimum fixed period of three years.
The Munin’s main functions are:
  • Receipt of fluids from subsea wells
  • Control of the subsea wells
  • Processing of the incoming fluids for separation into crude, water and gas
  • Storage of the stabilised crude oil and maintaining it at the required temperature
  • Treatment of effluent for discharge of water to the sea
  • Chemical injection
  • Offloading of crude into “tandem moored” shuttle tankers
  • Power generation for process, offloading, utilities and ship systems
  • Provide accommodation for operating and maintenance personnel
  • Provide helideck for helicopter operations
All systems are designed for a minimum annual average production up-time of 95%.
