Tandem Offloading for LNG |

Bluewater has developed a tandem offloading system specifically for the offloading of LNG from an FPSO to a non-dedicated LNG carrier. All that is needed is an additional quick and low-cost modification to the LNG carrier manifold.

The concept builds on proven oil industry tandem offloading operations. Model tests at MARIN have demonstrated that offloading in environmental conditions up to 6-metre significant wave heights is feasible. A high volume redundant flow path provides the necessary robustness. |

|
The tandem offloading unit itself, given the work name BIG SWEEP, is a self-positioning unit, which maintains station just off the side shell of the LNG carrier. This approach allows the use of either flexible loading hoses or conventional steel loading arms.

|
|
The ‘BIG SWEEP’ concept is also under development as a Shore Terminal, with or without a re-gassification plant.
