Tower Mooring Systems
Tower mooring systems are rigid tower structures fixed to the seabed and serve as an anchoring point for permanently moored tankers to (off)load gas or fluid products.
Various types of tower mooring systems can be supplied by Bluewater, each type having its own characteristics and fields of application.

Common tower mooring systems:
The main feature of a tower mooring system is that the tanker itself is connected to the tower via a permanent wishbone structure or a permanent or temporary hawser arrangement.

Tower mooring systems are suitable for applications in shallow and medium range waterdepths with high currents. They can also accommodate multiple gas or fluid paths together with electrical connections to the subsea piping.
Major design advantages:
  • It eliminates the need for submarine hoses and provides a simple fluid transfer via jumper hoses from the tower to the tanker
  • It provides direct access to the tower structure from the storage tanker
  • Only minor tanker modifications are required
  • All mechanical equipment is located above sea level
Principal components:
  • Tower: This serves as a rigid anchoring point for the permanently moored tanker and accommodates the fluid swivel. It also provides a base for the turntable, to which the tanker is connected.
  • Mooring Components: A wishbone or a hawser arrangement to connect an offloading tanker to the tower.
  • Product Transfer System
